I have been fascinated by Mandalas for a long time. It is said to be a symbol of the soul, something that transcends us and is a means of communication by its power.
This painting was created because I always put what I mean onto the canvas.
I had a painting of a Mandala in my head for a long time. I had different ideas on how to paint it, what materials I would use for it etc, but I still couldn’t decide what the end result would look like. Then the day came when I sat down and painted until I was satisfied with the end result.
The Mandala is a pattern symbolising the universe and is used in rituals and meditations where the deity becomes a part of the Mandala – the cosmos. It is used for various festive occasions, tantric initiation, gaining magical powers , for relaxation, meditation calming of the mind – basically any esoteric activity.
It can be circular, triangular, semicircular or diamond. Mandalas can be made from various materials, coloured powder, gem stones, fruit leaves, fruit itself or fragrances.
